Starting a Session

In the roclub app, there are various ways to start, participate in, and end a session. The Local Operator plays a central role in this process, as they are responsible for starting and ending the session. Here are the detailed steps and functions that are important in this process.

Ad-hoc session

An ad-hoc session is a session that can be started directly without prior planning. This is particularly useful for spontaneous examinations or emergencies.

  1. Navigate to the Scanner Map: Click on "Scanner" in the app navigation and select "Start ad-hoc session" on the scanner map.
  2. Initiate the Session: Ideally, the session is started by the Local Operator.
  3. Hardware Settings: Grant permission for camera and microphone in the browser, select the correct settings, and click "Begin hardware setup".
  4. Allow Participants: The Local Operator allows other participants (Remote Operator or guests) to access the session.

Join session

Any user of the roclub app can join an already running session. However, this requires authorization from the Local Operator.

  1. Select the Session: Click on "Scanner" in the navigation and choose the scanner where you want to join a session. Active sessions are recognizable by a green-bordered scanner and the display of participant initials.
  2. Choose Role and Join: Select your role (e.g., Remote Operator or guest) and click "Join Session".
  3. Authorization by Local Operator: Wait for the Local Operator to grant you access to the session. This view is visible only to the Local Operator.
  4. Connect to Scanner: Click "Connect" during the session to establish a connection with the scanner and start the examination.

End session

Closing a session is also done by the Local Operator and ends the session for all participants.

  1. End the Session: Click "Finish Session" to conclude the ongoing session.
  2. Confirmation: Confirm the session closure by clicking "Finish Session" again.
  3. Leave the Session: A notification confirms the successful session closure. Click "Exit page" to return to the homepage.

Note

When the Local Operator ends the session, the Remote Operator and all guests are automatically removed from the session.

Additional Features

  • Invite Guests: During the session, the Local Operator can invite guests via the Team card. These individuals will receive an invitation and can join the session.
  • Scanner Connection: The Remote Operator can connect to the scanner during the session to perform the examination. The Local Operator can interrupt this connection at any time.
